It appears my Xbox360 console has just died. When I’m playing games I get a few minutes in and the screen either goes black and fills up with random colours so I sent an email off to Xbox support and got a fairly prompt reply back from Omar (Automated or not, prompt) telling me to call Customer support to resolve my problem.
I decided to double check my battery on my Dell laptop to see if was a suspect sony battery and liable to explode. And it is! So I now have a new battery on its way to me.
And only wanting to order books for this christmas, they won’t arrive in time unless I pay for the priority shipping which would make the shipping as expensive as the books. So I’ll wait then.
I’ve come home today to find I card shaped letter waiting for me, and as I was not expecting a card my curiosity was aroused. And I’ve opened it up to find a picture of earth from the moon and inside it says the following:
Thank You
Thank you for choosing XenPlanet this year. We appreciate your business.
Wishing you a happy holiday season, and a successful and a prosperous new year.

Now it may not seem like much but I have to say I was surprised to actually get a card from a business that I deal with regularly. It’s the little personal touch that would encourage me to give more business to them in the future.
Ooh er, i’ve been in a blogging mood over the last two or three days.
Today I went to see Casino Royal today at Cineworld but of course the universal law of dickheads took effect, and I was stuck beside them. They had their own little running commentry throughout the entire film which pissed me off to no end. And then to top it off, some arrogant prick decided to bring their baby to the film. Which decided to start crying in the middle of the film. But seriously what kind of fucker brings a baby to a movie? I’m going to either have to go to launch night when there are people there who want to watch the movie or start my own private cinema so I can watch films in peace.
Other then that I approve of Daniel Craig as James Bond. I was shocked when I first heard the news but after seeing the movie, I was impressed. Very damn impressed and there was a good few one liners in the movie to make me laugh.
After the cinema, I headed out with Tom to various shops to pick up a copy of Gears of War. I got one for 57.99 in Gamestop which isn’t too bad a deal at all. I’ve only played it briefly but it seems ok. From all the reviews I was expecting a little more. I don’t know, maybe an hour or two of it will turn me to like it. Then Tom decided to get a haircut in that place in Arnotts, in retrospect I should of also got one but oh well. Then we waited for at least 25-30 minutes for a bus to show up. I don’t know why but the specific bus I take to get is the most unreliable in the Dublin Bus service. We counted 4 going to Dun Laoigre in the time it took for one of ours to show up.
So I guess its time for an update.
Went to the Muse Concert in the Point a week or two ago. Brilliant.
Today did 6 hours of school and 3 subjects. You do the math. My brain killed itself during Irish (TWO FUCKING HOURS OF IT)
And that pretty sums up my life that I’m willing to blog about since my last update. I sure do lead an exciting life!
I’m well chuffed about this though:
conor@atlantis [~]# uptime
17:05:58 up 43 days, 14:52, 1 user, load average: 0.57, 0.35, 0.29
Usually when I get to the 30 day mark, some fucker ruins my day and crashes the box.
If you happen to be on Bebo or related, you’ve probably seen this before (with much worse spelling) but I’ve decided to take it to the bloggosphere. Do it or die.

I’ve just had the misfortune of watching of TV3’s latest attempt at making a TV program. Seriously a quiz show called The Box which looks like to me like some sort of rip-off of Big Brother (which also is shite) by having this steel box in which the z-list Irish “celebrities” appear and having it hosted in what looks like TV3’s carpark presented by KEI DUFFY or also known as Keith Duffy.
Seriously, why does nearly every Irish produced TV show turn out to be shit? A ha I hear you say, what about Father Ted? WRONG! Produced for Channel 4 in the UK.
I had more of a well planned rant in my head but that was last week and this is now. C’est la vie.
You are 32% geek
You are a geek liaison, which means you go both ways. You can hang out with normal people or you can hang out with geeks which means you often have geeks as friends and/or have a job where you have to mediate between geeks and normal people. This is an important role and one of which you should be proud. In fact, you can make a good deal of money as a translator.
Normal: Tell our geek we need him to work this weekend.
You [to Geek]: We need more than that, Scotty. You’ll have to stay until you can squeeze more outta them engines!
Geek [to You]: I’m givin’ her all she’s got, Captain, but we need more dilithium crystals!
You [to Normal]: He wants to know if he gets overtime.

I’ve finally managed to get around to installing Vista on this laptop (I would of sooner, but the DVD burner in my PC died again! Looks like I’m going to get my third one soon enough)
For a beta its fairly well polished and works out of the box! The only issue I’ve had so far is that I’ve had to change the audio drivers I was using since it didn’t recognise the headphone jack. I’d call that pretty good going.
I haven’t got around to mucking much under the hood but one thing I have noticed is that its much much much faster to boot and shutdown.
If Microsoft this could be the very OS I’ll actually go out and buy and not wait till I can score it through a new pc. Or maybe it’s time I make use of schools academic license…
I’m sitting here now at 10:27pm on a Sunday evening with an English essay to write on:
Macbeth: A portrait of ruthless ambition and evil personified.
I’ve gotten this essay on Thursday and since its due tomorrow I’ve decided to write it now. Why why why? I could be asleep now but I keep putting off things to the very last minute and pay for it with (usually) with a lack of sleep and poor work. Does anyone know how I can stop this really bad habbit? I have a Leaving Cert coming up in June and I’d like to settle down and study but sure its not till June!
Help me!
