Occasional weekly update…

I know I said every week but this is me we are talking about…

In work related things:

I am doing the interviews for this role for the next week at least. I can say this side of the interview table is far more fun.

I think this is all I can mention which is either A) Interesting or B) Not company confidential

Other stuff:

Staying up until 1:30am in the morning when you have to be in work and playing a LAN game of Halo, while a good idea initally is a very bad idea that morning. And doing it twice in the same week is even worse.

Book keeping sucks and the rates accountants charge sucks even more.

A concept…

How about I try do weekly updates? This is probably the only weekly update for a long time going on my previous experience in trying to do regular blogging.

Back from a week with the Army. Doing a week of training which wasn’t as sucessful as I would of liked. Really can’t say any more on that.

However I did get drug tested. Needless to say showing up just after breakfast when people had been to the bathroom is a bad time to arrive. It took a while for an encore. I am not going into any more detail then that.

Work is getting busy enough these days. Now that I’m back from my weekly trips to the French office I have my own work to catch up on. Should be interesting to see what happened over the week while I was away.

YouTube time: Planet Telex - Radiohead

29th

Since I wont get to do this again for a while.

A brief overview…

So lets see what is new since I last posted:

A) Got a job with France Telecom (Indirectly since I work for Goa who are owned by FT but if I was to explain what Goa do to everyone who asks, I’d spend too much time explaining stuff so I just say FT)
B) Was a judge for the Blog Awards
C) Now CCNA qualified
D) Off to Scotland tomorrow
E) I’m sure there is more but i’ve forgotten since.

Happy New Year

See the title, etc etc

Jobhunting…

Since I’m not really big into editing published posts for fear of messing up RSS feeds and such.

I thought I’d make a quick post to let you know that large multi-national corporation who I was interviewing with, I passed their european hiring committee only to be rejected by the US hiring committee for “lack of commercial experience”. Wank.

Now I have to start sending CV’s off again. I hate sending CV’s.

PaddysValley

It is currently 2:30 am and i’m in that zone of being alert from large intakes of caffeine and tired after an long flight across 8 time zones. I knew I was too alert on the way over and I’d suffer on the way back.

How would I describe PaddysValley? In a few short words: Totally motherfucking freakin awesome. I had never met a billionaire before in my life, I met two (that I know of) during the trip.

I’m planning on writing up a decent post later on but I’m gonna try readjust myself to GMT. In the mean time there are some photos you can look at.

My very limited flickr set. (I was using a camera phone with no memory)

Marcus’s photos.

So… whats new?

On the 2nd of December I will be in Dublin Airport with the rest of the PaddyValley folk waiting for our flights. In a typical move from me, I have put off ordering business cards until and now I’m hoping VistaPrint will have them here in time.

I’ve been doing interviews with a large multinational company who do search and advertising mainly, I did an on-site interview last week and I was told it was normally a week when they get back to you, so I’m a little bit apprehensive every time I check my email or my phone rings.

On Monday, I go off and do my weeks e-learning for my CCNA course. Hello to anyone who might be doing the same.

Although this bash quote has been pointed to me:

<spazdor> how do you get a Cisco Certified Network Administrator off your porch?
<cnug> …?
<spazdor> pay for your pizza

When I’ll update this next…? Who knows.

No I’m not dead…

I wonder how many times I’ll end up using that title in the lifetime of this blog. Quite a few times I suspect.

In the mean time I’ve been sorting out the legalities of being a company director. All these laws you’ve never heard of are highlighted to you in that booklet they send out. I suspect I’m most of the way there now.

Sorting out bank accounts too, now that is a right pain in the hole. There is quite a bit of paperwork behind it and I never realised how expensive a merchant account can be. I’d want to be making a hell of a lot more to justify switching over from our current solution.

I also got myself a part time job with my school being the tech guy from their adult ed class. While I remain on the search for something full time, I’m currently doing interviews with a large multinational company who mainly do search and advertising but do other stuff like email too. To anyone familiar with the process, i’m currently waiting to hear back from the first tech interview.

Oddly enough I’ve applied to a few other companies and never heard anything back. This large multinational was the company I was least expecting to hear from. It’s funny how these things work.

Oh yeah and I went off and joined the Army Reserve too. Probably won’t mention that again, opsec and all that you know.

I should also probably consider finishing off these draft posts. Hell one of them is “Joost invites anyone?”

I think I’m a little behind…

Nothing quite like some healthy rivalry…
