To see what all the fuss was about I went off and got myself a twitter account here and already I’m loving it. At first glance it didn’t seem to be worth much but now I’m really beginning to like it.
My Junior and Leaving Cert English teachers have both commented on how I work with the policy “less is more” with regards to my essays and pretty much everything else I write for english. And then it hit me.
Usually when I’m (trying) blogging I have one simple idea which makes it into draft form and not much further then that because I feel there should be more there then there currently is. Like I have a draft currently on how I rediscovered I hate clothes shopping so much. Instead of going to the big effort I currently do to flesh out a blog post I could just send a text from my phone “back from shopping, forgot how much I hate doing it” and thats it. And stuff that I considered too trivial and boring to bother writing about I can now do in less then 140 characters.
Time will only tell if I keep the love up for twitter.
Its been a while since I’ve posted anything new and so long that its disappeared off my recent entry list in firefox.
So whats new in my life:
Leaving Cert Mocks start on the 5th of Feburary.
I. am. fucked. and yet strangely calm about it. Its just a piece of paper at the end of the day and there are always another way of getting to do the things you want. For college I’m looking at Computer Applications in DCU followed by Computing in DIT.
I got an email from Flightwise telling me that groundschool is starting shortly and I’m debating with my parents should I do it or not because it might impact on my leaving cert. Sometimes is so tempting to shout out NEWSFLASH DON’T CARE ABOUT THAT. I’M ALL ABOUT NOW AND THATS ABOUT 6 MONTHS AWAY.
I have some books on the way from Amazon of which one is the Cisco CCNA book. I’m hoping it will go along with the 2600 Router and Catalyst 2950 at the end of my bed and allow me to get a CCNA before the year is out.
I have yet to book my driving lessons which I should really do so I can get out on the road to be raped by the insurance company.
Robb is having his wedding reception on Saturday. Its finally here after all the planning etc. Congrats man!
Thats all I can think of for now but it appears Gavin has tagged me. Arses! I’ll come up with some new stuff to beat the curse.
I also have a beta invite to Joost and I really haven’t had much time to play about with it but can someone tell me what actually content is there? I see like the Paris Hilton channel but is there any channels which show the latest episode of my favourite shows like 24, Stargate (both), Prison Break etc?

I’ve just seen Microsoft’s new Ms. Dewey search engine and boy does she making searching more fun. For purely “scientific research” I tried various different terms to see what her response would be.
All about flash - “Bring on the HTML baby, because nothing gets a girl hotter then talking about code. Lights, camera, actionscript” - Oh how I wish that was true.
Why are you still wearing clothes - “Take off all your clothes, yes the socks too and fold them neatly and toss them out the window *alarm sound* there, now you’re screwed” - At least the people programming it have a sense of humour.
And bend over gets a few different replies:
“Hey if you can get inside your computer, you can do whatever you like to me”
“I’m sorry did you think this was girl who does whatever you want dot com because that is simply not the case ”
I don’t think I’ll be using Ms Dewey often though but it ranks highly for the responses to various search terms. Whats the best you can do?
I try to keep up with most things techy since I’m a geek at heart. And recently Blueface launched their SIP proxy register option which means you can now automatically provide them with the login details to each of your SIP services and they’ll register those accounts and forward them on to a IP destination of choice (Mine go to my Blueface account) but then not content with having my Smart076 and Blueface account calling my VoIP phone, I decided to seek out more.
First stop was Outlook where I did a quick search and it turns out, I have a SIPGate account, so registering that as well has now given me a 0845 UK number but still I was not happy and signed up for a Stanaphone account which has now given me a US number as well (For the NY area)
So I now have the following:
- 2x 076 Numbers
- 1x Extension based line
- 1x UK 0845 number
- 1x US New York number
Not too bad for a few hours work eh? So I’ve moved my primary VoIP option to Blueface for the time being while Smart076 has been a rock solid service for me, its been sluggish on the development side. A shame really, it could built up from its solid base. And if they do get going again they’ll have some catching up to do first.
I’ve finally managed to get around to installing Vista on this laptop (I would of sooner, but the DVD burner in my PC died again! Looks like I’m going to get my third one soon enough)
For a beta its fairly well polished and works out of the box! The only issue I’ve had so far is that I’ve had to change the audio drivers I was using since it didn’t recognise the headphone jack. I’d call that pretty good going.
I haven’t got around to mucking much under the hood but one thing I have noticed is that its much much much faster to boot and shutdown.
If Microsoft this could be the very OS I’ll actually go out and buy and not wait till I can score it through a new pc. Or maybe it’s time I make use of schools academic license…

The comments are now handled by sxore which uses SXIP for identity management which whatever that is, has become my authentication system for comments which is totally buzzword compliant.
Also Defcon is out in about 10 minutes so everybody will die shortly!

about Sandy of the Meebo team. I’ve taken a look through their blog recently as I’ve added a Meebo widget to the sidebar (as you have probably noticed) and I’ve seen a comment about is she single. I vaugely remember seeing comments before like that about her and I can’t see the big fuss. If anything Elaine is far better looking.
