It appears more information has surfed about Bertie and payments and as a result the PD’s look like they might resign from government. While I’m not completely au fait with the law as far as I know they couldn’t continue running the country since they don’t have enough seats. So who runs the country then?

Bertie’s a “man of the people”. People love him ‘cos he’s cuddly and frustratingly ordinarily.
As you’ve pointed out each time more information on the alleged fraud has surfaced popularity has gone up. Maybe it’s a case of the people liking the fact that Bertie (”man of the people”) may have got one over on the IRS. (As convoluted as that logic may seem)
