Le examen oral

Tomorrow morning I’ll sit the Leaving Cert oral exam for French. I was doing some last minute clean up of my pronunciation today with my french teacher and she said I’ll do fine but there was a serious wtf moment during it.

Lets set the scene, we’re talking about le ordinateurs and how j’aime travaille avec les ordinateurs. And she’s trying to think of any weird question that the examiner could throw at me. So the question is popped, what do you do on the internet? Research?

I was slightly thrown at this and said “I suppouse you could call it that” It was the first thing that came to mind, its not easy to explain you have a blog to look after, update your twitter page, keep up on your RSS feeds and be the CTO of a small web hosting company without sounding like a total dork. So I paused on how I could explain this and she looked at me and then said “I don’t want to know actually”

My mind jumped to the seedy side of the internet and I started laughing while going red like nobody’s business. She started to laugh too and my response was “Everything I do on the internet is totally legitimate” Which when you think about it, isn’t much of a defence against anything. I have three words embedded in my mind now “Dig up, stupid”

Hi there Conor - Conor here! You have just reminded me that when I did my French Oral for the leaving (OMG 14 years ago!) I had chicken pox (Which I picked up from my Chemistry Teacher). I don’t think I had even bothered to look up the french for it in order to explain. Bon Chance!
